Nick + Kiah

September 28, 2020

This year has been all about the word pivot.  New plans, new ideas, change.  Grocery shopping, restaurants, and even how we visit with loved ones. Elaborate large planned events have changed, and at first, I was disappointed.  As a part of my job, I get to attend and work at some huge celebrations with a banging dance floor. But, these more intimate events are proving to be magical in their own way. And this has taught me that change can really be so good.  On a personal level, we have experienced a lot of additional changes (and definitely not all bad) and have for a few years been wrestling through it with our family.  We have learned that it’s all about how you handle things and your reaction to the new things, and I had stumbled across this quote a while back.

“Tell me, what do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” –Mary Oliver

This is so fitting too for Kiah and Nick. They have been together for a long while (in fact, I got to photograph high school notes) and done the college thing and began careers. Kiah is a teacher, and if there is one profession that I know is working hard to create magic in the hardest environment, it is our teachers.  Nick and Kiah are beautiful people, and I know together, they will do WILD and GREAT things with their precious lives.

Congratulations, Nick and Kiah!

***Side note–we really bordered on too much fun–even shooting family portraits.  First, the adorable three-year-old boy made it clear that I did NOT sign a rendition of Baby Shark that is suitable for YouTube.  Oh my goodness, his reaction would make me sing it all over again.  And honestly, the craziest part of the day…..Kiah texted me that she was making an emergency trip to the dentist as she had broken her front tooth–and decided not to tell Nick prior to the wedding. Her teeth are stunning, and a shout out to the closed dentist who took care of her immediately–she wasn’t even late to get started getting dressed. But the look on Nick’s face when Kiah’s sisters told him the story of the morning during their speeches was hilarious.  We did have so much fun!
