Jared & Megan

May 29, 2020

Here’s a little secret–I love historical fiction from pretty much any period, but currently addicted to the author Fiona Valpy. It’s nice reading and when I click the audio button, the world of amazon tells me the story through my headphones making my morning walks much more exciting.  Well, Fiona uses a quote at the end of the book The Beekeeper’s Promise. Originally, I thought it could have been something she wrote, but upon digging, we are going to leave the author currently unknown.

But, Woah, this quote is good.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”

Jared and Megan both attended the University of Michigan and are in the middle of launching their careers.  They timed their winter wedding so Jared wouldn’t be out to sea and Megan wouldn’t be in the midst of an 80 hour work week during residency. Since they were on opposite sides of the country for Megan to finish school, this meant they weren’t together for the first few months of marriage.   But these two knew what they were doing, and while it was surely hard to be apart these months, they were really dancing in the rain. The day was nothing but happiness. And a quick update–Megan was matched in San Diego and is headed to work in emergency and gets to be in the same state as her husband (I attempted to love that post on insta probably 100 times).

On to the wedding day.   Oh my goodness, Megan’s dress. Gorgeous. The wedding party was a blast and the ladies had no problem breaking out into a legit dance throughout the day.  Echo was the ring bearer and was totally excited to do the job (and yeah, nailed it).  As a blended Christian-Jewish family, they incorporated both cultures into the ceremony.  There was a unity plant during our ceremony where we combine soil from our parent’s homes into a potted plot, and they broke the glass at the end of the ceremony.   Toasts were given and first dances were pretty much everything, but friends, the party was really good. Like so good, sneaking off for night photos went really quick–so we could get back to that dance floor.

Megan and Jared, I am honored to have captured your wedding day. Congratulations!
