Guys, it’s 2021, and I need to tell you that this was my favorite way to celebrate the new year. 2020 was a wild ride, right? Katlyn and Jake had originally planned a January wedding in Ohio (and don’t you know I love a good snowy wedding), but we all know that plans changed a lot. When Katelyn called to find out if I could travel to a place of sunshine and warm weather to capture their intimate ceremony, I decided I could live without snow for a while. Those palm trees and that incredible Florida vitamin D were good for the soul.
We all stayed at the Crowne Plaza for the weekend and on the morning of the wedding, it was such a relaxed morning. To keep things simple, the ladies did their own hair and makeup, put some flowers together from a local shop the night before, and got dressed to go to get the two married at the Harry P. Leu Gardens in the middle of Orlando. Some of the best parts of the day included beautifully crafted letters that they read before the ceremony, Jake’s reaction all day to his brand new bride, their officiant being their college pastor (it was so cool that Matt and his wife could make the trip as well), the delightful Spanish moss dripping all over the trees in the gardens, and of course, dinner at Margaritaville. Katlyn and Jake weren’t planning on a first dance, but it happened (almost) spontaneously. Huge thanks to whoever requested something sweet from the live musician:)
Congratulations, Jake and Katlyn.
You know, I am always up for an anniversary session 🙂
