Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark on a sentimental journey and enjoy every idle hour.
-John Boswell
Winter, when the world is blanketed in its very own white veil. It takes a special kind of bride and groom to choose a winter wedding. To go against the grain of summer time wedding season and embrace the beauty that winter holds. Jess and Kyle were definitely that bride and groom. Not only did they choose to have a winter wedding, they completely embraced it. I first met them over the summer when Michigan was humid and hot; quite at odds with how it was on their wedding day. But what hadn’t changed was what an awesome couple they are. Let me tell you, I love these people. Alone, they are each sweet, quirky, and bright. Together? Sparks fly.
Their Story…
Jess and Kyle’s story begins six years ago. Although their families had been friends for decades, it wasn’t until Jess’s senior year of high school (on her birthday) that Kyle who asked for her number through his aunt. They officially started dating just before her Senior Prom!
“Kyle and I dated throughout college (even though I was a Spartan, much to Kyle’s distaste). Throughout that time, we had been through so much; from new college experiences, the loss of my Opa, my 3 months spent studying abroad and Kyle embarking on his Law School Journey. Throughout everything, we have stood by each other’s side. Because of our relationship, we have been able to enjoy new experiences like riding a roller coaster for the first time (and becoming a Cedar Point Enthusiast) to a nice wintery Chicago trip. Kyle has also influenced my relationship with God. Kyle has brought me to church with him and really instilled the importance of God in our lives. I believe that it is due to this strengthened relationship with God that we have been able to become such a strong couple. Kyle and I have learned and grown so much together over the past few years together and I cannot wait to see what our future holds. I know we will continue to grow each other as individuals and as a couple. I know with Kyle by my side, I can handle anything!”
Their engagement session was SMOKIN’ so I had high hopes for their first look, and it was everything I hoped for. In the middle of bustling Livonia on a busy Saturday in December they somehow managed to look at each other as though they were the only people in the world.
As a photographer, there were so many moments during the wedding day where I thought it couldn’t get any more perfect but it did. My favorite part of the day is heading outside to shoot night Christmas shots. The lights were just magical. But oh, the veil shots. I can’t even love anything more than a veil shots!
Thank you, Jess and Kyle, for allowing me to document a love that is so sweet, so honest and so true. My hope is that your marriage is filled with many moments as special as today.
