Lauren and Dan were married in the fall at the Gem. The Gem Theatre is one of those places that gives me all of the Detroit romantic vibes. It’s rich, dark, and is filled with history. There isn’t a nook in the whole place that doesn’t want to tell you a story. Growing up, my parents would take us as a family to see classic movies (oh, Audrey Hepburn….you still have my heart) at a beautiful old theatre in Saginaw. So, every single time I walk into the Gem it brings me right to the movie Roman Holiday. I am digressing–but if you haven’t seen Roman Holiday–get a hold of that along with Breakfast at Tiffany’s and have a cozy date night.
But back to this gorgeous wedding. These two made all of the memories. Lauren had small photos of the family that she wanted to be with her, and she even had her grandmother’s wedding ring. It’s those small touches that make the most impact. Lauren and Dan first saw each other up the century theatre before heading outdoors for portraits. And woah, they nailed it. The ladies were beautiful, and the gents were perfect. They planned the ceremony for the late afternoon so they could enjoy cocktail hour and then get right into the celebration. And, the first dance photos are still some of my favorite from the whole day. They truly let themselves just enjoy the day as they unfolded, and it was clear.
Congratulations, Dan and Lauren!
