Ben and Janan planned a wedding that not only celebrated their wedding but also celebrated their family culture and history. Early in the morning, Janan got ready with her ladies and then headed over to her parent’s house for traditional Talaa’. It was quite an emotional day–and her father came out to see her for the first time and smiled and cried and smiled again. I won’t forget that he told me that he was the best smiler at smiling school–even through the tears. The family presented Janan with gold and Ben’s parents arrived to greet the bride before the send-off.
The ceremony was lovely and we snuck back to Ben and Janan’s new condo for a few portraits. The trees were flowering and we loved that we could use their first home as a backdrop. The reception followed at St. Mary’s Cultural Center and the guests enjoyed the celebration. Of course, we know the dance floor was filled for the Zeffa and later the Candle Dance.
We loved every moment. Congratulations, Ben and Janan!
