Waterview Loft Detroit Wedding | Danielle & Sal
Some wedding days are remembered for the little places in between.
Danielle and Sal built their day around the parts of Detroit that already felt familiar. They shared their first look outside their downtown Airbnb before wandering the city together, making a stop at The Old Miami, one of their favorite neighborhood bars. It wasn’t a planned photo location because it looked a certain way. It was simply part of their story, and those are often the places that make the most meaningful photographs.
Their ceremony took place at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, one of Detroit’s most beautiful churches. Before everyone made their way to the reception, we gathered on the front steps for a photograph with every guest. It’s one of my favorite traditions. Years from now, it’s a reminder of everyone who was there to celebrate the beginning of their marriage.
With the ceremony behind them, the celebration moved to Waterview Loft. Overlooking the Detroit River, it was the perfect place to gather everyone together for an evening of great food, heartfelt toasts, and plenty of time on the dance floor.
It was a beautiful November day in Detroit, but more than that, it was a wedding that felt connected to the city itself. From a favorite neighborhood bar to one of Detroit’s historic churches and an evening along the river, every part of the day reflected Danielle and Sal. Those are always the celebrations I enjoy photographing most because nothing feels staged. The story is already there. My job is simply to notice it.
