There is something about fall in Michigan that makes everything feel a little more magical. The changing leaves, the beautiful colors, the crisp air, and sometimes, a little unexpected rain.
Simon and Audrey’s fall engagement session at Stony Creek Metropark was all of those things, but mostly, it was just a whole lot of fun.
We had a little rain, plenty of laughter, and two people who were completely happy just being together. And really, that’s exactly what I love about photographing couples.
A Little Rain, A Lot of Fun
Michigan weather doesn’t always cooperate with our plans, especially in the fall. But a little drizzle? That’s hardly a reason to stop having fun.
Simon and Audrey embraced the day exactly as it was. Their session felt lighthearted, easygoing, and wonderfully natural. Nothing overly posed or complicated. Just the two of them enjoying time together, laughing, and letting the moments unfold.
Those are always some of my favorite photographs. The ones that feel like the people in them.
Fall Engagement Photos at Stony Creek Metropark
Stony Creek Metropark is such a beautiful location for fall engagement photography in Southeast Michigan. Between the wooded trails, open spaces, and gorgeous seasonal colors, there is so much room to explore and simply enjoy being outside.
And even on a cloudy, drizzly day, the soft light can be absolutely beautiful for photographs.
What I loved most about Simon and Audrey’s session wasn’t necessarily the location or even the fall colors. It was how comfortable they were together. There was so much laughter and genuine connection, and absolutely no pressure to make every moment picture-perfect.
Just two people being themselves.
Photos That Feel Like You
I always tell my couples that their engagement session doesn’t need to be a big production. You don’t have to know how to pose, have the perfect weather, or plan every little detail.
The best sessions leave room for spontaneity, laughter, movement, and whatever the day brings.
Simon and Audrey’s session was such a sweet reminder of that. A little rain didn’t take away from the experience. If anything, it became part of their story.
And I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
