Jam Handy, Detroit, Michigan

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

Sara + Harry have quite the story. They both work in New York City and enjoy a life filled to the brim with hustle and bustle. But when they began wedding planning, something tugged at their heartstrings and sent them looking back to the D and plan a celebration at the Jame Handy.

The morning started out with hair and makeup followed by a relaxed lunch in the room at the Mariott.  Of course, Janell and I (dear friend and photographer), got to photograph some killer details. There really couldn’t have been a much more perfect scene than overlooking the river through a  wall of windows.  On to shooting the guys getting a quick drink at the Townsend, and then we headed off to Ste. Anne’s to get married. The lovely parish is one of Detroit’s oldest.  Anyone able to have the luxury just to be on the grounds of this landmark can count themselves blessed.  It stands in the skyline tall and proud of its heritage. And maybe Sara and Harry chose this church for just this reason. They do really love Detroit, and it shows just in the way they chat about it. So much so that they planned a 360 tour for their guests before the party.  And that made a little time for me to capture some of the most amazing photos around the city. The wedding celebration took place at the Jam Handy. So many details were brought together to make this evening special. The venue was perfect.  The food was something to die for…and the band packed out the dance floor. Harry even played the cowbell. Since, you know, you can never have too much cowbell.   All in all, this day was one for the books.

Congratulations, Harry + Sara.  I am so honored to call you friends. God’s Blessings!
