Michael + Kristin | Pine Knob Mansion

When Kristin reached out last year to discuss her plans for a winter wedding at Pine Knob Mansion, I immediately pictured jewel-toned colors, twinkling lights, and a full dusting of snow. At least, that was my hope.  My husband and I were married in January, and I prayed—begged—for snow. And much to my dismay, I didn’t get it for my wedding day. So, in full disclosure,  I live vicariously through any of my winter brides who are granted white powder on their wedding day.

Kristin was that bride, and the Michigan snow didn’t disappoint! Friends, I will always advocate for a winter wedding—mostly because January is the perfect time for a tropical honeymoon. Anniversaries are a great occasion to steal a few tropical rays in the winter.

While the snow was absolutely gorgeous, it wasn’t the best part. The two were married at St. Hugo of the Hills, and the sheer magnitude of love for Michael and Kristin was evident. I witnessed it in every laugh, gesture, and embrace from their families and friends.

During the reception, we snuck outside for a few outdoor portraits. We quickly hopped in and out of the back door since it was chilly. It worked out perfectly as guests began to trickle into the most stunning space. Seriously, it’s beyond lovely.

The toasts at the reception were beautiful dedications to the bride and groom. Michael even read a poem to his new bride.  After dinner, the evening progressed into a room of dancing and a room that allowed folks to catch up and defend their euchre champion status. It was simply the perfect way to celebrate.  Words can only go so far to describe it, you just need to scroll down and take a look.
