A Kensington Metropark Summer Engagement
There’s something about Michigan summers—especially when you’re spending golden hour at the Lake at Kensington Metropark. James and Rebecca’s engagement session landed on one of those dreamy evenings: blue skies, soft breeze, and that unmistakable late-summer light. We started near the water, where Rebecca brought flowers from Viviano Flower Shop—a simple but sweet touch that made the portraits feel even more personal. While we did take a few classic photos, the best moments were the in-between ones. James and Rebecca just wanted to be together and soak it all in. No stiff posing, no pressure. Just time to connect, laugh, and let the camera quietly capture it all.
They’re planning an October wedding at The Village Club in Bloomfield Hill, and if it’s anything like this evening, it’s going to be so much fun.

Thinking of a Kensington Metropark Engagement Session?
The lake is one of my favorite spots in the park—it’s peaceful, open, and gives you that classic “Pure Michigan” backdrop. Whether you already have a favorite trail or want help finding the best light and locations, I’m happy to guide the way. The park is huge, and there are endless pockets of beauty to explore. In fact, took a look at another session from Kensington here. If you’re dreaming of a session at Kensington Metropark—especially lakeside—I’d love to help you plan it.
