Do the things that mean the most to you. Spend time with the people you love. That’s exactly what Julia and Anthony did during their wedding at Eagle Tavern at The Henry Ford.
The two were married at the Martha-Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village. We had planned to take portraits outside, but since the weather was hot (the kind of heat that melts you the second you step outside), we opted to pop into the museum for a few portraits beforehand.
Of course, I knew the portraits would be beautiful—but more than that, I knew this family. I photographed Julia’s brother and his wife over ten years ago, and I was really looking forward to witnessing the deep connections this family shares.
We spent about ten minutes on portraits after the ceremony and then headed to cocktail hour at the carousel. It was still warm, but no one seemed to care. Greenfield Village was theirs for the evening, and they got to enjoy every bit of it.
They were announced at Eagle Tavern, and from there Julia and Anthony spent the night bouncing between tearing up the dance floor and catching up with family and friends who clearly meant everything to them.
It was such a good day. And these two did exactly what they set out to do—begin their life together, surrounded by the people they love.
