THE STORY:
Jake and I went to the same high school. We knew of each other, but life took us in different directions—he went to the Fire Academy, and I started college at Oakland University.
A few years later, during my junior year, we reconnected online. We started seeing each other on weekends, and things just clicked. After college, I moved back to Brighton, and a year later, we got our first apartment together.
In April 2016, everything changed. We were on a trip to Traverse City, and Jake suggested we hike the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes before sunset. I didn’t think much of it—just grabbed one of the two backpacks he insisted we bring. When we got to the top of the dune, right by Lake Michigan, he spread out a blanket, pulled out a ring, and totally surprised me.
It was simple and beautiful. Just right for us.
Since Brighton is such a big part of their story, and Brewery Becker is one of their favorite spots, it made perfect sense to shoot there. The skies were gorgeous that day, and the sunlight was unreal. But the best part? Just watching them be themselves. Easygoing, happy, and completely in love.
