A Detroit winter wedding has a charm all its own, and celebrating at the Gem Theatre feels like coming home.
I first met Catherine a few years back, just snapping some photos. I was instantly drawn to her spirit. So when she told me she’d found the one, I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to capture their big day. They didn’t want to wait, so a winter wedding it was. My own husband and I had a winter wedding too, and I always hoped for snow. We didn’t get it, but on Catherine and Colin’s day? I was practically dancing in the street when those flakes started to fall.
There were so many sweet details, it’s hard to pick a favorite. That dress, for starters, was just perfect. And Reverend Canon Michael Stein, who clearly holds a special place for them, made the ceremony so personal. Then there were those little flower girls, making everyone smile. But the best part? I asked Catherine and Colin what they were most excited about (thinking maybe a honeymoon in Cabo!). Colin just grinned and said he couldn’t wait to smooth his bride. Some things just hit you right in the heart.
Their Gem Theatre wedding was spectacular.
