Mia & Raymond | Gem Theatre Summer Wedding
Some wedding days just feel good from the start—and Mia and Raymond’s was exactly that kind of day.
They kicked things off getting ready at the beautiful Book Tower Detroit. It’s got this calm, historic elegance that made it the perfect backdrop for slow sips of champagne and those early, quiet moments. Mia and her girls got ready upstairs, and the vibe was relaxed but buzzing in the best way.
Before heading out, Mia and Raymond had a private first look in the Book Tower. Just the two of them, tucked away from all the noise. They exchanged gifts, took a breath, and soaked in the day before things really got rolling.
From there, we made our way to the Detroit Institute of Arts for portraits. The clean lines and quiet spaces of the DIA always photograph beautifully—but the wedding party brought their own style. The bridesmaids in sleek black dresses? Perfection against the classic architecture.
Family was a big part of this day. Mia and Raymond come from large, warm, joyful families, and we made space for all of it—group photos full of laughter, hugs, and a few “we clean up nice” comments from uncles.
The ceremony was held at Sweetest Heart of Mary, one of Detroit’s most breathtaking churches. The light filtering through those stained glass windows hit just right. From there, everyone made their way downtown for one unforgettable Gem Theatre summer wedding reception.
And wow—what a celebration. Stiletto Fire lit up the room with live music, the dance floor was packed all night, and Raymond made a quick change from his black tux jacket into a sharp white one for the party. A classic move. The cake (thanks to For the Love of Sugar) was beautiful and delicious, and every detail—from the florals by Viviano’s to hair and makeup by Shannon Bishop and Gabrielle Yanke—pulled the whole day together.
Mia and Raymond, thank you for bringing your energy, your style, and your people to one of the best parties of the summer. What a day.
