For several months, the three of us chatted about their winter engagement session. They knew one thing, they needed to have a few shots on the ice! Kelly grew up ice skating, but Mike played a little tougher and put his skates on to play hockey. So it just made sense for us to go hit the rink at Campus Martius.
Both Kelly and Mike had some time off in January. We had a day set aside a day to head downtown to ice skate during the day. Michigan weather can be so challenging. It was incredibly cold. Thankfully, we were able to book an appointment to do some of our photos at the Scarab Club, and it was fun to spend a little time exploring the building. The Scarab Club is a really cool place to have engagement pictures done. It was founded nearly 100 years ago and it’s one of Michigans well-known venues for art, music, and literature. It’s walls of books and gorgeous natural light were perfect for creating beautiful photos. It was the perfect respite from the cold too!
Once we got warmed up again (and the feeling came back in our toes) we were off to Campus Martius. Even though it was chilly, we made some really cool photos. Some of my favorites happened off the ice though. Cuddling on the bench made for great candid bench and gave Kelly and Mike a chance to gain some warmth too but eventually even cuddling can’t keep you from freezing!
It was time to call it quits but I can’t wait to show you their mini spring session!
