For a year or so, Janell and I had been chatting about ideas for her family session. Janell is a photographer herself and has beautiful work. (you can oooh and ahhh over her here .) On top of that, she is a friend of mine. That being said, I was excited to “spread my creative wings” and do something out of the ordinary. And as the fall came and nearly went, Janell and I were both crazy busy.
Ah, but November isn’t so crazy, right? Well, we decided to meet up at a Christmas Tree farm and photograph her family on location.
And if you choose your own tree, let me suggest heading out to Candy Cane Farms in Oxford Township. The staff was so helpful and the place was beautiful. We choose our family Christmas tree from there as well, and we will go back. It was worth the trip.
We did some posed portraits and then some shots of the three of them choosing their Christmas tree. I had imagined some really great snow-topped trees, gusts of wind, hot chocolate, and of course, beautiful flurries.
Nope. What we ended up with wasn’t quite what I envisioned. But it is Michigan. So, we went on one of the warmest days in November and basked in God’s most glorious setting sun.
I hope you can enjoy these photos as much as I did shooting them!
